Baraka is a tall, handsome teen age boy of 15 years. He speaks excellent English and is very near the top of his class at Mariado School where he is in his first year of high school. Clearly this young man is very bright and his father, who is the chief of the village of Linjani, is very proud of him. His father has more than 50 children, common among the Maasai, and cannot send them all to school. Baraka was selected to attend school because of his very evident scholastic skills. He is sponsored by a member of another non-profit through the remainder of this year but needs a sponsor for the remaining three years of high school. Baraka dreams of joining the military when he finishes high school and is deeply committed to serving his country when he has completed school.
